The ProtectMats lab mat is a custom-made, anti-static mat that offers ESD protection, liquid resistance, and durability for any lab environment. Ideal for electronics, chemistry, and cleanroom use, this 5 mm mat provides a safe, clean, and stable work surface.

The laboratory mat from ProtectMats offers the perfect solution for laboratory surfaces that require extra protection against scratches, spills, and electrostatic discharge (ESD). With a thickness of 5 mm, this anti-static mat (also known as an ESD mat) combines durability, insulation, and anti-static properties, ensuring optimal laboratory protection for sensitive equipment and lab materials.

Thanks to its anti-static function, the mat prevents the buildup of static electricity, which is crucial when working with electronic components and chemicals. It also makes the chemistry mat less prone to attracting dust. In addition, the anti-static lab mat is liquid-resistant, so spills won’t cause damage, and the surface is easy to clean with a damp cloth. Its shock-absorbing properties reduce impact noise and enhance working comfort. The mat is also non-slip, preventing lab tools and equipment from shifting during use.

At ProtectMats, each laboratory mat is custom-made to fit your workspace perfectly. Choose a reliable and safe solution that extends the life of your lab bench and equipment, while contributing to a cleaner and safer working environment.

Customer Questions
What are self-healing cutting mats?
A self-healing cutting mat ensures that cut marks disappear on their own. The surface closes after each cut, keeping the mat flatter and smoother for longer, allowing for more precise cutting. This not only extends the mat’s lifespan but also reduces wear on your tools.
What are the shipping costs and delivery times?
The average delivery time is 1–2 business days, but it can take up to 5 business days. Shipping costs depend from state to state and will be shown at checkout. We offer FREE shipping across the US for orders over $70.
What material are the mats made of?
Our mats are made of flexible polyvinyl chloride (PVC) without harmful plasticizers.
How are PVC mats recycled at your company?
PVC is a versatile material that is highly suitable for recycling. Old PVC protective mats can be returned to our address: Industriestraat 9, 2500 Lier. Upon receipt, the mats are cleaned and shredded into small PVC granules. This recycled PVC is then used in the production of new protective mats and a wide range of other products, including water bottles, flower pots, and stadium seats. By using PVC in a circular process, we minimize waste and reduce the demand for new raw materials, resulting in lower CO₂ emissions.
Will my mat be cut to the exact size?
At ProtectMats, we custom-make your mat in the desired thickness, width, and shape. Thanks to our advanced CNC-controlled oscillating blade cutting machines, we cut each mat with the utmost precision, ensuring the final result perfectly matches your application. Please note that PVC is a living material: a minimal variation in length may occur over time due to natural shrinkage.
Are there any harmful plasticizers in your mats?
No, our mats are completely free from harmful plasticizers such as DEHP and DINP. They are safe for humans, animals, and the environment, and contain no hazardous substances. For flexibility, we only use harmless DOTP plasticizers. Our mats meet the strictest standards: they are REACH-compliant (phtalate-free) and tested according to ISO16000-9.
How can I keep my mat clean?
Our mat is easy to clean with a damp cloth and, if needed, a mild, pH-neutral cleaning solution. For stubborn stains, you can try removing them with acetone-free nail polish remover.
Can I request a quote?
Of course! At ProtectMats, you can easily request a quote for any project. This can be done via our webshop or by sending an email to sales@protect-mats.com. Our sales team will be happy to prepare a personalized quote for you.
Does my mat have a certain smell?
New PVC mats may have a slight, characteristic odor upon delivery. This is normal and usually disappears within a few days after unpacking and airing out. The odor is harmless, and the material is completely safe for use.
Can the size of my mat change over time?
PVC is a living material that can slightly react to temperature and environmental changes. As a result, a minimal change in length may occur over time. This is a normal characteristic of the material and does not affect the quality or functionality of the mat.
Doubt about color or material?
Not sure about the color or want to feel the quality first? Order your sample for just $1, including shipping! Samples are sent by regular mail and may take a little longer to arrive than our standard packages.
What shapes can I order?
We cut your mat, floor protector or table cover exactly to size. Standard shapes include rectangles, circles, ovals, and ellipses. Have a unique shape—such as a rounded L-shaped table or a playful kidney shape? Email us a DXF file with the exact dimensions, and we’ll cut the tablecloth precisely according to your file.

Rectangle/square: A rectangular (or square) mat is machine-cut at no extra cost.

Circle: If you choose a round mat, enter the diameter of the mat you want to receive. An additional charge of $5 applies.

Ellipse: With an ellipse, the corners of the mat are rounded so strongly that none of its sides are straight.
Please note: Not sure if your table has an elliptical shape? Contact us. An additional charge of $5 applies for this shape.
Oval: An oval is a rectangle in which the two opposite sides are replaced by half circles. The image alongside is a good example. An additional charge of $5 applies for this shape.

Took a while to get here. More than 4 days anyway, but they are great! would definitely recommend. Gave it 4 starts, because nothing is perfect.

Beveled edges

Thanks to our digital CNC cutting technology, we can give your PVC mat a 45° beveled edge. This finish is optional, but offers both functional and aesthetic benefits.

The benefits at a glance:

  • Premium look: the angled edge provides a clean, polished finish.
  • More comfort: no sharp corners or edges, making it more comfortable for your forearms while working.
  • Safer: reduced risk of bumps or scrapes.

This finish is available on all our PVC mats and is cut precisely to your desired dimensions.

Specifically for laboratories

The lab mat from ProtectMats is specially developed for work environments where electrostatic control, cleanliness, and chemical resistance are crucial.

ESD-safe (anti-static): prevents electrostatic discharge that can damage sensitive electronic laboratory equipment.

Dust-repellent: thanks to its anti-static properties, the ESD mat hardly attracts dust and supports a clean, controlled work environment—ideal for clean rooms.

Chemically resistant: resistant to solvents and acids. Suitable for work surfaces where corrosive or reactive substances are used regularly.
